Leaving a Legacy: The Lasting Impacts of Private Conservation Funds

The Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) is proud to serve the River communities of the greater Thousand Islands Region. Working to ensure perpetual conservation, sound stewardship, while promoting outdoor recreation & education, TILT’s success can be attributed to the communal passion for protecting and celebrating this truly special place.

Over the years, TILT has been fortunate to work with families on an individual basis to establish Private Conservation Funds along with other planned giving opportunities. These gifts provide the necessary financial support to advance critical mission-driven projects on lands in TILT’s care. Through philanthropy and belief in the Land Trust mission, TILT has worked with members of our local communities to create long-term funding opportunities to enhance and implement significant conservation projects.

In 2018, TILT worked with the Macsherry Family to establish the Richard Macsherry Family Stewardship Fund. Each year, TILT has the ability to utilize this fund to help cover the costs associated with one or more keystone stewardship projects. Access to these funds has allowed TILT to implement strategic projects such as the installation of new and improved trail infrastructure, providing continued high-quality outdoor recreation throughout the Thousand Islands.

As TILT strives to advance its mission, we invite you to consider supporting the organization through the Thousand Islands Forever Legacy Program. Land Conservation is an investment in our future with the decisions we make today having lasting impacts on tomorrow. A planned gift is a powerful and meaningful way to create your legacy or to honor a loved one. For more information on how you can leave a lasting impact on the place you love, please visit our Support page or call the TILT office at 315-686-5345.
