Wild Wednesdays Afterschool Program Launches

TILT is hosting a new series of afterschool programs called Wild Wednesdays.  Held on the last Wednesday of the month, these education programs provide an opportunity for families to get outdoors with TILT throughout the school year.  The series will take place at TILT's Otter Creek Preserve, Crooked Creek Preserve and Macsherry Trail, Chippewa Bay Preserve and at various partner locations in the communities of Hammond and Alexandria Bay.  We kicked off the series with an otter story time program at the Otter Creek Preserve on September 29th that included a book reading, a short hike to the water to look for otters, and a take-home craft project. Each family received their very own copy of the book to take home, thanks to a local donation. Families are invited to join us for fun scavenger hunts, winter craft projects, and many more nature learning opportunities.  Check out the full schedule of programs to see how we will be getting Wild on Wednesdays this school year!

Wild Wednesdays are being developed thanks to a grant from the Fresh Sound Foundation.  This multifaceted outreach and communication project aims to strengthen TILT’s connection to our year-round communities with additional activities, outreach and programs throughout the fall and winter months.  The Fresh Sound Foundation’s goal is to support building vibrant and viable communities through the arts, economic development and stewardship of the environment.  The Foundation has supported TILT in a number of important projects in the past and we are excited to partner with them again to highlight the year-round benefits of outdoor recreation on preserved lands.

Sign up for Wild Wednesdays programs by visiting the Treks & Camp page on our website, calling our office (315-686-5345) or via email at [email protected].
