Remembering Judy Munro

A nature-enthusiast, Judy absolutely loved spending time outdoors and loved wildlife, especially birds. Together, Judy and Bill loved photography and documenting the River’s wildlife. Capturing hundreds of pristine moments, they produced beautiful wildlife greeting cards for all to enjoy.  Bill would take the photos and Judy would carefully name each one offering a glimpse into the moment the photo was captured.

Judy was a strong supporter of many environmental causes, including TILT. Every year, she loved volunteering at the Zenda Community Picnic and the Annual Loon Census. Judy was particularly adept at spotting loons and her data contributed to numerous surveys. As a volunteer of the Common Tern Program and with net in hand, Judy would watch vigilantly for any young chick ‘jumpers’ and protectively scoop them up out of the water safely delivering them back to their nests.

Judy absolutely loved spending time on the River, whether it was an early morning paddle with her grandkids to pick up the River’s flotsam, monitoring the common terns on Tidd Island with Bill, or enjoying a sunset cruise surrounded by family. Their cottage on Murray Isle was home and she loved sharing their love of the Thousand Islands with family and friends. Her beautiful smile, zest for life and love of nature will be missed but not forgotten.
