About the Artist

Camilla’s interest in photography began when she was twelve and bought her first camera with summer job savings.  Later as a student at the Rhode Island School of Design she took classes with Harry Callahan in the first year of the school’s fledgling photography department.  She subsequently settled in New York City where she worked professionally as a freelance photographer throughout the 60s and 70s.

Putting her professional life aside to raise a family she volunteered many years as an environmental activist on issues related to water quality and land conservation on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River.  She was a founder of the Thousand Islands Land Trust and served on its board ten years.
