Become a Friend of the Thousand Islands Biological Station

Did you know that SUNY ESF has a field station on Governors Island, Clayton, bustling with activity dedicated to enhancing the River's fisheries? It's called the Thousand Islands Biological Station (TIBS) and is an important part of the River communuty with its long-term research, management, restoration, and education programs.

TILT and TIBS have a long-standing partnership. Each year, TILT and TIBS team up to deliver a suite of wetland restoration and monitoring projects, along with environmental education programming. Most recently, TILT worked with TIBS and Ducks Unlimited to restore the Blind Bay Wetlands Complex, supporting our local fisheries, waterfowl, and a varity of other species. In the future, we hope to bring back one of our favorite KidsTreks, Ichthyologist For A Day. For this KidsTrek, TILT and TIBS provide a one-of-a-kind experience to local youngsters, who learn what is it like to be a fish scientist.

We are excited to share with ourt readers that the Thousand Islands Biological Station has announced the launch of a new outreach program, "Friends of TIBS,"  to better connect to the River community through regular communication about its science and the environmental problems that TIBS and its conservation partners are working to solve.
