    Jake was appointed Executive Director in May 2012. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the State University of New York at Cortland, majoring in both Biology and Chemistry. He first came to the Land Trust in 2007 in a research internship and continued on as Director of Stewardship. Since being appointed Executive Director, he has overseen TILT's Reaccreditation by the Land Trust Alliance Accreditation Commission, and its growth in conserved lands, in educational programs, and staffing.

    A native of Redwood, NY, Jake has a life-long passion for the environment and especially the Thousand Island region. He hikes, fishes, hunts and enjoys water sports. He has a keen appreciation for the importance of the St. Lawrence River system and is pleased to have the opportunity to work in its behalf. Contact Jake.

  • Terra Bach

    Terra is responsible for telling TILT's story through marketing and outreach, working with partner organizations and local experts to organize our TILTreks programs,  fundraising events, writing grants and annual appeals, managing the Zenda Community Garden, Kids Korner Garden and natural play area and much more.

    A SUNY Buffalo graduate with a bachelor of arts in English and minor in Environmental Studies, she has a strong commitment to the well-being of the environment, which she attributes to her family's more than 100 year history on and in the St Lawrence - a true river rat at heart.

    Terra has been actively involved in the community and currently serves as the Chairman of the local Thousand Islands Young Leaders Organization (TIYLO).  She and her husband live in the Village of Clayton. Contact Terra.

  • Spencer Busler

    Director of Land Conservation

    Spencer joined TILT in 2016 as Director of Land Conservation. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources Management from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Water and Wetland Resource Studies from the same institution. 

    Having worked along the St. Lawrence with the US Fish & Wildlife Service and Lafave, White & McGivern, L.S., P.C., Spencer sees himself a mediator between biologists and engineers. He is an avid angler, a lifelong conservationist and an all-around outdoor enthusiast with a diverse educational background ranging from forestry and soils to watershed hydrology and wetland ecology. He grew up in Theresa and spent the vast majority of his childhood summers on the numerous waterbodies of the Indian River Lakes chain where he developed his deep appreciation for our natural surroundings.

  • Rebecca Dahl

    Zenda Farms Preserve Coordinator

    Rebecca oversees the activities at Zenda Farms Preserve, including the development of a business plan for the future of the Preserve as a sustainable farm and environmental and agricultural learning center.  She comes to TILT with experience at the farm facilities at UCONN, as well as zoos in CT and NJ.

    Most recently, she worked at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, TX, developing interpretive programming, and focusing on sustainable agriculture. She grew up in New Jersey and is a graduate of the University of Connecticut. Contact Rebecca.

  • Brandon Hollis

    Stewardship Director

    Brandon manages TILT’s fee-owned preserves, monitoring conservation easements, and supervising summer land stewards.  He has been with TILT since 2011, first as a Summer Land Steward, then Stewardship Assistant and now Stewardship Director.

    Brandon is a SUNY Potsdam graduate with a bachelor of arts in Environmental Science, having studied biodiversity conservation, environmental ethics, natural resource policy, and GIS. A native of Alexandria Bay, he has spent much time on and along the St. Lawrence River, which contributes to his appreciation for the Thousand Islands Region. Contact Brandon.

  • Gary LaLonde

    Zenda Farms Preserve Manager


    Gary is responsible for all aspects of stewardship associated with Zenda Farms, including trail maintenance, building upkeep and repairs, monitoring of the surrounding woods and fields, and management of TILT’s tree nursery. He also assist with any TILTreks, KidsTreks and TILT events that occur on-site and with any maintenance needs of the Zenda Community Garden.

    Gary owned and operated an air conditioning business in Florida for 30 years before retiring north. His expertise includes machinery and engine maintenance, as well as woodworking, plumbing and electrical work. He is an avid car collector, with several antiques in his collection. His current project is a 1940 Ford pickup he's converting into a "street rod."

    Susie manages TILT's supporter database, administers annual appeals, designs and coordinates the Reflections newsletter, and manages the office.

    She taught High School English in Massachusetts and New York before admitting that she belonged on the River year round.

    Her connection to the Thousand Islands began in Chippewa Bay where her family has summered for almost 100 years. She and her husband live in Macomb, near Black Lake.  Contact Susie.
